Vinyl decals can be installed on any smooth, flat, and clean surface. Apply your decal to your locker, car, truck, window, door, wall, anywhere that is a clean smooth surface. This includes glass, Plexiglas, painted surfaces, fiberglass, plastics, etc. All our vinyl graphic products are made from high quality self adhesive vinyl material. This material is first quality and has excellent workability and removal properties. Your decals will last a minimum of 3-5 years outdoors. In fact we have had customers whose decals have lasted longer than their cars!
All surfaces must be considered dirty and must be cleaned prior to the application of vinyl. (Cleaners such as Windex are acceptable; however, we recommend a 2 to 1 mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol.) Wipe the surface dry with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
Air and surface temperature must be above 55 degrees Fahrenheit for proper application of the vinyl decal.
Applying Decals or Vinyl Lettering to a glass surface is trickier than applying to a sign or vehicle. Often in applying decals to glass the water is trapped between the glass & the vinyl decal & will not dry until exposed to warm temperatures for a fairly lengthy period of time.
The best way to apply vinyl decals to glass is to apply them dry but if you are apprehensive on getting exact placement you can try a very light spray of application fluid or plain water. This will allow you some flexibility in getting the decal positioned correctly but will also make it more difficult to remove the application tape from the decals. You will need to work the decal, peeling back the tape and holding a corner of each letter as you peel off the tape, being careful not to tear the letters/decal as you go. Once you have them positioned, press them firmly to the glass, and do not squeegee them as they may slide. Allow them to dry completely before attempting to wipe or clean the glass. This could take up to 48 hours or more depending on temperature, humidity, etc.
Remember that any smooth, flat, clean surface is a good base for a vinyl decal. Be creative and make your own decorations, designs, or pictures. Decals are used for safety, notices, branding, personalizing, etc. Put your name on your bike, boat, or on your toolbox. The list is endless.
